Facebook is a special case: a Friends-only feed genuinely exists, and it does exactly what you'd want. It's just filed where nobody looks.
It's called Feeds, and it lives in the menu rather than the main bar. It shows posts from your friends, in chronological order, with no suggestions and no Reels.
The Feeds tab, and why it isn't enough

In the app menu, look for Feeds. It offers several views, one of them Friends: only posts from people you actually added.
Pin it
On some versions it can be added to your shortcuts. That cuts the number of taps; it doesn't change what opens when you tap the Facebook icon.
And that's the catch: Facebook doesn't remember your choice. The app always opens on the algorithmic feed, with its Reels, its suggested groups and its pages you never liked. The right feed exists, but you have to ask for it every single time.
The setting you're looking for exists. It just never stays ticked.
