What the number doesn't say

The total is already blunt, but it underestimates the real cost. A scrolling session doesn't only take its own duration: it also takes the time needed to get back to what you were doing. Research on task interruption puts recovery at several minutes — so each visit costs more than the clock measures.

The time isn't lost while you scroll. It's lost afterwards.

The other thing the number doesn't say: not all of that time is waste. Replying to a message, looking at a friend's photos, posting something — that's what you installed the app for. What costs you is the rest: the short videos that autoplay, the suggestions, the discovery page.

That's exactly the line Slowcial draws: it removes the second category and leaves the first intact.
