Privacy Policy — Slowcial

Slowcial helps you use social networks more calmly by hiding the content designed to keep you scrolling. This page explains exactly what data exists, where it lives, and what happens to it.

In short: nothing you do inside Slowcial leaves your phone. No account, no server storing your usage, no profiling. Only three things go out, and none of them knows what you look at: an anonymous crash report (which you can switch off), the check that your subscription is valid, and the measurement of the ad that made you install the app. Details below.

What Slowcial stores — on your device only

The following is stored in the app’s private storage, on your device. It is never transmitted, to us or to anyone else:

• the nickname you choose (optional — you can stay anonymous);
• your preferences: followed networks, active filters, theme, language;
• your answers to the setup questions (estimated daily usage, goal);
• time spent in the app, per day and per network, kept for a rolling 90 days, which powers the “Stats” screen.

All of it disappears when you use “Start over” in Settings, or uninstall the app.

What happens when you open a network

When you open Instagram, YouTube or another network from Slowcial, the page is displayed in an embedded web view, and you sign in directly with that network. Three consequences:

1. Your session (cookies, site data) is stored locally by that web view, just like in a browser. Slowcial does not read, copy or transmit your credentials or the content shown.
2. The network you visit receives the data it normally receives when you visit it, and applies its own privacy policy, over which we have no control.
3. The “Reset” button in each network’s menu clears that site’s cookies and data, and signs you out.

Slowcial only acts on how the page is displayed, on your phone. No content is sent elsewhere, analysed remotely, or stored by us.

Subscription

If you subscribe to Slowcial Premium, the purchase is handled by Apple. We never see your payment method, your Apple ID or your address. We only receive the fact that this device has an active subscription.

Subscription validity is checked by RevenueCat, Inc., which receives an anonymous install identifier and the associated purchase history — date, product and status. That identifier is linked to no name, no email address and no browsing content. See: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

Advertising measurement

Slowcial is advertised on Meta and TikTok. To know which ad brought someone in — and above all which one brought no one — the app uses AppsFlyer Ltd., an install measurement service. The scope is the narrowest that service allows:

• no advertising identifier (IDFA), and therefore no “Allow tracking” prompt: it never appears, because there is nothing to allow. Attribution relies on SKAdNetwork, Apple’s own mechanism, which is anonymous and aggregated, and on the IDFV, an identifier that never leaves our own apps and dies when you uninstall;
• no device name — it often contains a first name;
• no usage events. Time spent, the networks you follow, the filters you enable, the pages you open: none of it is transmitted. The only event sent is a subscription purchase and its amount, because a campaign is judged on the revenue it brings.

Meta and TikTok receive the matching measurement from AppsFlyer: that an install, and where applicable a purchase, followed one of their ads. See: https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy/

Crash reports

When the app crashes, a technical report may be sent to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) to help us fix it. It contains where in the code it broke, the device model and the iOS version.

It contains no nickname, no settings and none of the pages you visited: app logs and addresses opened in the web view are explicitly dropped before sending, and your IP address is not retained.

Daily reminder

If you enable it, Slowcial shows one notification a day, at the time you choose. It is scheduled by your phone: there is no push server, no notification token sent anywhere, and therefore no way for us to know whether you received or opened it. Turn it off in the app’s settings, or in iOS settings.

What Slowcial does not do

• No account, no sign-up, no email address requested.
• No analytics inside the app: what you do in it is measured nowhere but on your phone.
• No advertising identifier, no profiling, no ads shown to you.
• No selling of data: what exists is limited to what is described above.
• No access to your messages, contacts, location or photos.

Children

Slowcial is not intended for children under 13 and knowingly collects no data about them.

Your rights

Since your usage never leaves your phone, you stay in direct control: “Start over” erases your Slowcial data, “Reset” erases a network’s data, uninstalling erases everything — including the install identifier used for measurement, which cannot be recovered afterwards. We hold no copy of your usage.

For what does pass through our providers — RevenueCat for the subscription, AppsFlyer for measurement, Sentry for crashes — write to the address below and we will request deletion of the records tied to your install.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page with a new update date. A change that would involve collecting data would be announced inside the app before taking effect.
